Tick Tock

If I truly decided to be here now,

if my thoughts would accommodate a

narrow expanse of myopic vision

if the dust would settle from my

last earthly body and heaven would

forgive and forward my sins to

the bottomless pit of my heart

and the pendulum would swing

both ways

the tick tock of my breath

would alternate between fear and

love in the form of

death and desire,

or

simply stated and rated

a ritualistic

package donated by charity

set ashore

on wobbly legs

of

how I forgot

 

to walk on water.
