Guest guest
If we were to determine effectiveness of a teacher by: 1. Life transformational power of his/her teaching. 2. Reach of his/her teaching. 3. Simplicity and ease of understanding of his/her teaching (thereby making it available to wider audience). 4. Practicality of his/her teaching (Does it transform the practical daily human living). Then, who would you consider as the most effective teacher alive and working today? Here are the choices with short summary where possible. ==== Byron Katie ==== Web site: http://www.thework.com/index.asp Teachings --------- Question your thoughts. *** When you argue with the Reality... you lose but only 100% of the time. *** Nobody else has power to really hurt me. That is *my* job. **** You can not make anyone else happy. That is a hopeless pursuit. Reach: Since 1986, Katie has introduced The Work to hundreds of thousands of people in over 30 countries around the world. In addition to public events, she has introduced The Work to groups in corporations, universities, schools, churches, prisons, and hospitals. ==== Eckhart Tolle ==== Web site: http://www.eckharttolle.com/home.php When you lose touch with stillness... you lose touch with yourself. *** I am at ease, at peace at this moment, is a good question to ask... any moment. *** Accept any moment completely... and, it is the moment of Nirvana. Reach: His book Power of Now sold more than 2 million copies. ==== Sri Sri Ravishankar ==== Web site: http://www.artofliving.org/index.html Teaching: " The Breath is the link between the body, mind and spirit. When the mind is free of fear, guilt and anger, and is more centred, then it can heal the system of any ailment. The consciousness that creates the body also has the power to heal. Pure consciousness is pure love and love is the highest power on earth. " - H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Sudarshan Kriya teaches you to harmonize the breath which in turn harmonizes the mind and the body. Reach: The largest volunteer based NGO in the world with a wide range of social, cultural and spiritual activities, the foundation has reached out to over 20 million people from all walks of life. ==== Amma ==== Web site: http://www.ammachi.org/ Teaching: Only when goodness awakens within, will one's personality and actions gain beauty and strength. Reach: For the past 30 years Amma has dedicated her life to the uplifting of suffering humanity through the simplest of gestures - an embrace. In this intimate manner Amma had blessed and consoled more than 21 million people throughout the world. ==== Ramesh Balsekar (RB) ==== Web Site: http://www.rameshbalsekar.com/ Consciousness is all there is. *** Events happen, deeds are done, there is no individual doer thereof. " *** Below an interview with Ramesh Balsekar (RB) by WIE (What Is Enlightenemnt) magajine. .... WIE: But if, as you say, there is no person who decides how to respond, then what is it that causes an action to take place or not? RB: An action happens if it is God's will for that action to happen. If it is not God's will, the action does not happen. WIE: Are you saying that every action that takes place is God's will? RB: Yes, is God's will. WIE: Acting through a person? RB: Through a person, yes. .... WIE: Are you saying that everything is predestined? That everything is preprogrammed from birth? RB: Yes. I use the word " programming " to refer to the inherent characteristics of the body/mind organism. " Programming " to me means genes plus environmental conditioning. .... ..... WIE: You've written in one of your books that one has actually reached quite a deep understanding when one can say, " I don't care if enlightenment happens or not in this body/mind organism. " RB: That's right. When he reaches that stage then it means that the seeker is no longer there. It is extremely close to enlightenment because if there is no one to care, then there is no longer any seeker. .... [ above interview from http://www.wie.org/j14/balsekar.asp ] Reach: Not known. ------ Note: In the next message, I will like to add info about Adyashanti, Mahesh Yogi, Nirmala Devi, Gangaji, Wayne Liqorman, Sai Baba and maybe, few others. Guest guest
===== Adyashanti ===== http://www.adyashanti.org/ Life without a reason, a purpose, a position... the mind is frightened of this because then " my life " is over with, and life lives itself and moves from itself in a totally different dimension. This way of living is just life moving. That's all. As soon as the mind pulls out an agenda and decides what needs to change, that's unreality. Life doesn't need to decide who's right and who's wrong. Life doesn't need to know the " right " way to go because it's going there anyway. .... Life moves, undulates, breathes in and out, contracting and expanding. This is its nature, the nature of what is. Whatever is, is on the move. Nothing remains the same for very long. The mind wants everything to stop so that it can get its foothold, find its position, so it can figure out how to control life. Through the pursuit of material things, knowledge, ideas, beliefs, opinions, emotional states, spiritual states, and relationships, the mind seeks to find a secure position from which to operate. .... True meditation has no direction, goals, or method. All methods aim at achieving a certain state of mind. All states are limited, impermanent and conditioned. Fascination with states leads only to bondage and dependency. True meditation is abidance as primordial consciousness. ===== Gangaji ===== http://www.gangaji.org/ " Surrendering all the concepts of love is, in fact, surrendering to love. Surrendering all demands for love is surrendering to love. Surrendering all hopes is surrendering to love. " .... " There is a great secret that beings throughout time have announced, the secret of an extraordinary treasure, the treasure of the nectar of eternal life. It is the nectar of pure beingness, recognizing itself as consciousness and overflowing in the love of that recognition. If you imagine yourself to be located in a body, then you will move that body from place to place, searching for this treasure of nectar. But, if you will stop all searching right now and tell the truth to yourself, you will know what is known in the core of your bones. You will know what these great beings knew and attempted to describe. You will know it with no image of it, no concept of it, no thought of it. You will know it as that which has eternally been here. And you will know it as yourself. " .... ====== Mahesh Yogi ===== http://www.maharishi.org/ ====== Nirmala Devi ====== http://www.sahajayoga.org/ ====== Sai Baba ======== http://www.sathyasai.org/ ====== Wayne Liquorman ===== http://www.advaita.org/ ====== Adi Da Samraj ===== http://www.adidam.org/ Beloved, I am Da, the Living Person, Who is Manifest as all worlds and forms and beings, and Who is Present as the Transcendental Current of Life in the body of Man. I am the Being behind the mind, and as such I am Realized in the heart, on the right side. I am the Radiance within and above the body, and as such I am realized above the crown of the head, beyond the brain, beyond all knowledge and self-consciousness. To Realize Me is to transcend the body- mind in ecstasy. To Worship Me is simply to remember My Name and Surrender into My Eternal Current of Life. And those who Recognize and Worship Me as Truth, the Living and All- Pervading One, will be granted the Vision or Love-Intuition of My Eternal Condition. They will be Filled and Transfigured by My Radiant Presence. Even the body-mind and the whole world will be Shining with My Life-Light if I am Loved. And My devotee will easily be sifted out from the body-mind and all the limits of the world itself at last. Only Love Me, Remember Me, have Faith in Me, and Trust Me. Surrender to Me. Breathe Me and Feel Me in all your parts. I am here. I will Save you from death. I will Dissolve all your bewilderment. Even now you inhere in Me, beyond the body-mind and the world. Do not be afraid. Do not be confused. Observe My Play and My Victory. I am the Person of Life, the only and Divine Self, incarnate. And even after My own body is dead, I will be Present and everywhere Alive. I am Joy, and the reason for it. This is the Good News I have come again to proclaim to Man. Now be happy. Tell everyone I am here. Beloved, I do not lie. This is the Final Truth. I Love you. My devotee is the God I have come to Serve.
