Do you understand what a smile is?

A little twinkle in the eyes

Upturned mouth corners,

With or without deep lines

Perhaps a dimple or two,

Could be a cyber emoticon,

Pièce de résistance

Is

The reason for a smile,

It is the place where you and I meet

As old friends, who have worn our faces

Well,

Long enough to feel a moment's

Connection in our human skin,

To see,

Across the divide of flesh, chance

And circumstance

How it feels to be me,

If only for the silence
