Guest guest
Here's a radical thought. We could even consider the possibility of total vulnerability and openness here. If somebody is standing in front of us, eyes wide and fist clenched, we would naturally feel a bit defensive, but it's not possible for anyone to harm me through my monitor. The question then becomes, is openness and vulnerability more likely to serve me and others than defensiveness? I don't think there's any contest, unless of course, it's feeding time for the ego, which could lead to all sorts of interesting self explorations. >>>>> Actually, vulnerability is what *true* power is. This is the case even in direct personal contact with people, let alone in this insular virtual realm. Most of us have experiences of social rejection in our past history. These kinds of forums are a place where it is actually safe to come out of the " fear closet " and begin to peek out our " real face " . The interesting thing is that when we show ourself with vulnerability to others, the person that can most benefit from that is ourself! The first person to be vulnerable with is ourselves. If there is nothing hidden from ourselves, nobody's words can threaten ego. As you say, this is true strength: nothing to defend.
