Guest guest
Last week, I had asked my seven year old son and four year old daughter to point at their face and tell me who they were. My daughter exclaimed, " I'm me and I want me for Christmas! " My son said he was a primate. This week, I had the opportunity to try this same Douglas Harding experiment with my nine year old daughter. The result was truly astounding! First, I got her to point outwards at things, beginning with a table. I got her to describe what she saw. " It's round, made of wood and has legs. " she said. She did this sort of description excercise with various other items in the apartment. Then I got her to point at her feet and work her way up to her chest, describing everything she saw. Lastly, I had her point at her face. " What do you see? " I asked. " My nose. " she answered. " What do you see behind it? " I asked her. She paused for a moment, looking rather perplexed, and then her eyes got big and she laughed excitedly, almost shouting, " Hey, I'm invisible! " To my utter satisfaction, she " got " it.
