Guest guest
When I was in high school, we were taught summary of Advaita as the part of our history curriculum. As far as I remember, it went something like this: ---- God is no other than you. ---- In the longer form, it went something like: --- You are Self. --- Self is God. --- God is Self. .... Important thing is that we were not taught that Advaita denies multiplicity of forms and manifestations. We are not told that Advaita denies the diversity of forms and manifestation. We were not told that the 'Not Two' of Advaita means that there are not multiple [in fact, Infinite] forms and manifestations. Important thing is that we were not told that Advaita denies forms and manifestations... We were said Advaita calls the 'forms', manifestations... the 'movement', the 'maya' - the movement [maya] of God! God is the ever present Reality that the jiva becomes anytime it is completely STILL and it is felt as... Sat-Chit-Ananda! Maya is its Movement... Sat-Chit-Ananda is the feeling of its STILLNESS. Underlying Reality is the Same! .... We were told that Advaita denies the separateness of God and Jiva! We were told that Advaita means: ----- Jiva and God are 'not two'. ----- There are no God *and* you. ------ God is you. You is God. ------ Jiva is God. God is Jiva. ------ To know 'you' [self] is to know God! ----- To 'be' God is to simply abide as your Self! ----- Nirvana and Samsara are both Within. Samsara is God... moving and identifying with forms. Nirvana is Jiva [mind] merged within... STILL... and divested of Maya [the 'changing' forms!]. ------ To be in Samsara is to lose Nirvana, to be in Nirvana is to be out of Samsara... because the Reality that can 'be' is the Only One! It can either abide as it Self...the formless... the Sat-Chit-Ananda or, it can identify and indulge in the maya, the movement, the changing forms... the Samsara. We were told that Advaita denies any need to *seek* for God because... God is the Only Reality! God is the Only One that can Seek [God is the Only One that could do anything!]. God is the Seeker. Seeker is the God. The Seeker can simply rest, be STILL... and, abide as Self [God]! .... Or, the 'God' can seek, run and wander like... 'jiva'! .... The God running, seeking... is felt as the movement, the maya... the jiva! The Jiva STILL... is felt as Self... Sat-Chit-Ananda!
