'Goal' of Meditation.

I think frustration can indeed occur

if mediation [or anything else] is

being used to achieve some goal outside

of it i.e. meditation is not the

destination in itself but only a means

to reach somewhere else.

We might consider example of driving

along California Coast for the enjoyment

of it because this drive is so beautiful

and adventurous and the ocean view so

magnificent

versus

driving 'through' the California coast

because we have to attend a job

interview in LA and you were told that

this is the 'fastest' route to 'get

there'!

Just because, our approach, attitude,

focus and expectation is quite

different in the above two cases, we

might experience the journey in very

different way!

Same can happen with meditation. Same

can happen with Life too. After all,

all that happens at the end of life is -

death. The destination we reach is -

death! So, if life was seen as just a

'means' and not the 'destination'

itself, it might indeed seem quite

frustration and useless as it seems to

reach nowhere.

....

Mediation is not a 'means', it is the

Ultimate Destination!

It is the freedom to be devoid of any

agenda, any need, and any purpose.

It is the freedom from being

'anything', needing to reach anywhere.

and it is freedom from doing 'anything'!

It is freedom from even being my 'self'.

It is like sleeping without closing eyes...

It is like dying without bodily death...

....

As my friend use to say:

I want to work hard and make lot of

money. My goal is to make enough money

so that I can retire and do nothing. So

that... I gain freedom to 'waste' all

my time. Meditation is reaching that

goal without needing any change in the

external things like money... because,

the goal is not outside, but, within.

....

Meditation is the freedom to be

just... Self!
