Guest guest
" Hello, Piglet! How are you today? " asked Pooh. " Not so good, Pooh. " replied a sad looking Piglet. " What's the matter, my friend? " asked a concerned Pooh. " Oh, it's just that I'm trying very hard to make myself unhappy today, that's all. " said Piglet. " What are you doing that for? " asked Pooh. " So I can be happy tomorrow, of course. " replied Piglet. " I don't understand. " Pooh said. Piglet thought for a moment before replying. " If I didn't feel unhappy today about possibly feeling unhappy tomorrow, I probably wouldn't bother trying to make myself happy again tomorrow. " said Piglet. " So, in order to feel happy tomorrow, you first must make yourself unhappy today about the possibility of feeling unhappy tomorrow? " asked a puzzled Pooh. " Yes, exactly. What other reason is there for wanting to make myself happy? " said Piglet. " Ah! I think I understand now. Without your feeling of unhappiness today, you would have no motivation to make yourself happy tomorrow! " a gleeful Pooh blurted. " Right! And without the motivation to make myself happy again, I fear I would remain stuck in my unhappiness. So that's why I'm trying to make myself unhappy today - so I can be happy tomorrow. " said Piglet. " Great idea, Piglet! Wow! But what if you make yourself happy right now instead of waiting for tomorrow? " Pooh asked.
