Well, Stefan, I think, you are on the right track about beliefs, you just have to go deeper. What is a belief? How is it different from knowing? A belief is an idea considered true on faith, and on the authority of the source. To know is to consider an idea true based on experience. Even understanding this, we could say, everything is belief because, ultimately, even our experiences, and perceptions are unverifiable independently from mind, so we have to take on faith that they exist as they seem to do. So what is the root belief, the mother of all beliefs? " I am, " 'I exist', that is the root belief. It seems like a fundamental fact, but is it? Did not your parents taught you, that you and the world were two? So inquiring there, is the fundamental inquiry. Does an " I " exist? What is existing without it feels like? And finally, without sensory input, without feeling your body, without emotions, thoughts, or any other mental input, is there consciousness of existence at all? In fact it was a response of Anna on one of my previous postings. And this time - o wonder - I am in agreement with you. The art of quoting is in a ramshackle state in this group... I have to say :-) Greetings Stefan
