Guest guest
A PIECE IS NOW YOURS After the funeral, after I cleaned her room Changed the sheets and made the bed, I Opened the windows on a cold April's day, And breathed in the fragrance of the flowers Of the funeral, the baskets and wreaths, I recollected With the lilacs, edelweiss and Lilies-of-the-valley that always walked with My Mother, I stood in the doorway to an empty Room that day A piece of my heart lies in her grave and A piece of my heart is in this poem.
