In reality... you are always in SAME state! You recognize this state different... because, " you " 'identify' with something other than your Self! .... You recognize Deep Sleep, Samadhi differently because... all else that you could *identify with* has disappeared! ....because, you are left ONLY with what is *always there*! .... From my conceptual perspective, the deep sleep state is not a state but the removal of a state of human consciousness. It is, therefore, not " recognized " at all. It is not an experiential state and so no memories are stored for later recall when we awaken. It is, however, interesting to contemplate that we all 'achieve' enlightenment every night.
