Many Ancient Hindu [and possible,

Buddhist too] rituals had four things

in common:

- Incense/Aroma/scent [mostly

sandalwood]

- Sound/music [OM... mantra]

- Mudra/posture

- Light/Fire

Now, scientists are discovering that

all of these [scent in particular] have

instant [and even long-term] positive

effect on the Brain - thereby having

positive effect on emotions, feelings

and... mood!

Good smells like sandal, rose, flowers

trigger Amygdala in a positive way

causing it to send pleasant signal to

Frontal Lobe! It works to increase

pleasant emotions as well as to

increase focus and concentration by

energizing the frontal lobe!

Good smells such as Sandal work even

further to strengthen the memory and

decreases chances of diseases such as

Alzheimer and Parkinson!

...

Positive effect of good music and

harmonious sound is all too well known

and fairly well documented.

...

Postures too is found to greatly

linked with brain states and resulting

thoughts, emotions, feelings and mood!

Lying down is found to decrease focus,

concentration and problem solving and

be more conductive to dreams!

Sitting with back and head slumped

over and bent is found linked to

recurring and in particular depressive

thoughts.

Walking with and head slumped over and

bent too is found linked to recurring

and in particular depressive thoughts.

Whereas, waling with heads and backs

erect is found linked with open

positive thinking and cheerfulness!

Do you mean to imply that posture causes mood changes, or is it possible

that posture is reflective of mood?
