Guest guest
>>What do you mean by mind being something to be *understood* and not fought against? Understanding mind means... when, how and what helps mind remain at its natural health of peace, intelligence and bliss! Understanding mind means... when, how, what and WHY *ails* mind and causes it to lose its natural health of peace, intelligence and bliss! *What* in mind does get *infected* in such cases and *WHY* does it get infected! Once these two are understood then, care can be taken to *eradicate* the root cause of *ailments*, minimize exposure to disease producing agents when necessary and to provide input and environment that supports mind's natural health of peace, intelligence and bliss! Fighting with mind means... merely complaining 'my mind should not be at unease' in place of doing real enquiry into the root cause of such *ailment*! .... When scientists study matter, they analyze its properties, its structure and its relationships with other matters and energies. Once they understand it, they document it, they conduct tests to verify their findings and once verified they simply use that information to use matter accordingly! They use gasoline as a fuel but they avoid exposing gasoline - tanker to fire! They know that it is *nature* of gasoline to burn when exposed to fire! Common folks on other hand, make little attempts to understand the mind and root cause of it *ailments* and not understanding these they are rarely careful to *eradicate* this cause or to prevent exposure to those harmful agents! .... When scientists study 'alive' entities like plants, animals or human body too - they study its properties and its relationships. A plant grows with water, sunlight and soil. A plant can get affected by diseases, and can get eaten by insects. Scientists see that it is not necessary to 'complain' 'plants shouldn't get infected by diseases' and further, mere 'complains' rarely do anything in this regard. It is often sufficient to just study " how " the pant gets affected by these diseases and how it can be 'protected' and if affected how it can then be 'cured'! Often the contacts with those bacteria, viruses or harmful chemicals can be avoided. If plant do get infected however, that *disease* and it *cause* itself gets understood and then, removed. A human or animal body too is treated the same way - an entity bound by its nature and laws and largely dependent on its input and operating conditions! Its nature is understood and then its input and conditions are made supportive to its natural growth and health! .... Mind similarly is an object and has its properties*! These properties can be understood. Its relationship with external " thoughts " , " emotions " , things and their impact can be understood and, mind can be used accordingly. The *disease* producing inputs could be avoided, mind could be cleaned of them when infected and mind itself can be made internally stronger to resist these external agents! When the mind does get *infected* by these *ailments*, as in things like matter and 'living' bodies; here too it is useful to understand the *root* cause of such disease and then taking steps to eradicate it! However, whenever such distress happens, we usually focus on symptoms such as *unease* and spend effort trying to suppress these symptoms or worse complaining against them with thoughts like 'it shouldn't be there'! In place of that, if their root cause is investigated every time, they can TRULY get eradicated! .... But, all said and done... one has to remember that mind like any *living* entity is subject to all it comes into contact with! Getting *affected* is the part and process of a natural organic mind. Given that, the ailments might still occur! The wisdom [as in scientific study] is to use them to objectively investigate their root cause and then eradicate them! When *infection* does happen, a *deep* 'cleaning' might be needed too! Sometimes, the *exposure* to *disease* producing agents too can be minimized! .... Humans have a body that is subject to laws... Humans have a mind that is subject to laws... The way is to understand them and then use these *laws* to guide the use and care of these organs! ----- *Some of these properties are already known and understood and some can be observed.
