Hi Meth, Well, lets start by clarifying what is, and is not " nonduality. It means not two. It means that the primordial ground is homogenous and single. Being One doesn't mean sameness. The One is not inert, and manifest itself as apparent multiplicity, just as the the ocean being one does move as waves, spray , foam, currents, storms, tides and what not. So a brain, memory and every other appearance is the behavior of the One. The concept of nonduality is a liberating tool, not a gag which prevents you to use common words and concepts. No one can write or talk 100% nondual. Communicating is done always in duality. Direct nondual perception is possible, nondual talking is not. Your original ascertion was that memory was created way before dualism, and that memory is a faculty of the brain. Your " The One " seems to me to be too easily divisible, more like a complex system; like a body which can be considered a whole and also an aggregation (made up of bones, organs, etc) -- the epitome of heterogenous. I know it is only an analogy but consider how will the ocean be if there was no sun or moon to create these aspects? There would be none of these things. Just a block of ice. Doesn't Nisargaddatta use the analogy of inert gold? Meth
