Okay, buddy, come over here and sit on this rock.....yeah, the one by the

edge. So, ya figure truth/Truth doesn't matter? Ultimately, You ARE Truth. If

you seek to know what you are, Truth matters very much.

NotReallySilver: But Phil, we can't actually know Absolute Truth in the

illusion, so who cares?

Phil: Well, to begin with, if Truth isn't your first love, how do you ever

expect to realize it? Something else will always come ahead of it. By always

seeking the highest truth we can find in the illusion, the illusion itself

begins to dissolve, because the illusion is not the Truth, see?

NotReallySilver: So, spiritual exploration in the illusion is really about

noticing the illusion and seeing it for the untruth it is?

Phil: Exactly. All of us are exploring the boundaries that keep us from

moving forward. That's all that happens. We like to imagine that we're learning

about God or that we have a special super duper technique or some other ego

doing, but none of that works. We're always exploring our self deceptions or

limiting beliefs that we use to keep the illusion in place. That's what's

occurring here. While everyone imagines that they have an answer, what's really

going on is that they're trying to transcend that foolish and limiting belief by

exploring it, and that's why everybody sounds so ignorant to everybody else

here. Only our own deeply held beliefs seem to make sense...until they don't.

NotReallySilver: Thanks, Phil. You're truly a wonderful person.

Phil: Aww go on....................No, I mean it. Go

on...........................

still have to pay my bills on time. The only difference is that I

have a deep and quiet understanding of what's what and I can play

the game of Life with absolutely no worries whatsoever. It's

wonderful. I didn't mean to imply that Truth is unknowable and that

it doesn't matter. I meant something else. More like what I just

wrote above. Before Truth, Life. After Truth, Life. Life always

goes on. Sorry about that.

You bet! Hey, Phil! I believe we have another new guest! Put some

tea on for Toomb. No mead for him just yet. Life made him stop

taking all intoxicants. I don't blame him. I myself just recently

quit smoking. I finally saw the stupidity in it. Hehe. Now I

don't read or smoke. Two addictions gone in less than two weeks.

Very strange. I'm not sure what's happening to me.

You bet! Hey, Phil! I believe we have another new guest! Put some

tea on for Toomb. No mead for him just yet. Life made him stop

taking all intoxicants. I don't blame him. I myself just recently

quit smoking. I finally saw the stupidity in it. Hehe. Now I

don't read or smoke. Two addictions gone in less than two weeks.

Very strange. I'm not sure what's happening to me.

Yup. I'm handling the withdrawal symptoms pretty good. I keep

telling myself, " I am not this craving. I am not the body's pain.

This body is healing itself. " Plus, the extra money I'm saving is

great, too! I wanted to quit smoking because I need to increase my

lung capacity for playing didgederoo and for singing and for playing

the Jaw Harp. Plus maybe I'll be able to bang on my drums even

longer with all the increased energy I'll have now. And I love

dancing with my girlfriend!!! I don't know how but at least I'm up

trying. Plus I want to gain some wheight, too. God, I love

Life!!!! And I want to set a good example for my three little

monsters. I mean children.

" Silver "

Excellent! I dunno if you're gonna buy this idea, but I spent a little time

looking at withdrawal one time, and I found that whatever physical processes

occur are activated by the mind's resistance to letting go of the substance.

IOW, the mind is saying, 'I wanna keep smoking and if I make this miserable

enough in the physical body, I'm gonna get what I want and it won't be 'my'

fault cause it's a purely physical thing.'

There is no given physical withdrawal that isn't triggered by the mind, and

so resolving the split in the mind resolves the withdrawal symptoms. Some

folks don't experience any withdrawal because they're absolutely clear in their

mind that they're done, and there is no split or victim mentality. (Don't mean

to minimize the dilemma. Been there, done that.)

Yeah, you've been pretty obsessed with it, eh. Hehe. I get like

that, too, sometimes. It's a compulsive thing. What do we get out

of this list? What's our payoff?

" Silver "

Whelp, see, for me, it's always a part of my exploration. (The philosophy of

nonduality generally denies that process, but I don't) It's entirely an

internal process of exploring my own self imposed boundaries, both in terms of

my

limited awareness and in terms of whatever self deceptions I might find

lurking.

For example, a while back it became clear to me that I value and honor peace

above trying to help anyone see a greater truth about themselves. Even if

I'm being asked for help, if there's ego resistance, I'm not interested. Well,

as you can see, I betrayed myself the last week or so. It's a bitter pill to

swallow but I've changed my tune and apologized and clarified the truth of the

matter for myself and onward we go and we'll see what shows up next. That's

how it works for me and it doesn't end till the fat lady sings.

I'm aware that everything that occurs in my experience is my own creation

that comes out of my focus, and I've used these forums for quite a while to do

some intense exploring. Yes, Truth is an obsession for me and I'm not sure I

could handle the withdrawal symptoms. :(

That's very kind of you, Arvind, but I'm not really interested,

thank you. Possibly, I would only be exchanging one

addictive " drug " for another. I don't see any sense in that.
