One Human Organism-No Ego

The human organism lives, breathes, walks and talks.

In its own way, so does a cow, a whale and a dog.

External to you, someone refers to you are you.

Internal to the organism it refers to I as I.

I and you go together as verbal reference points.

The human organism refers to itself as I and to others as you.

It's only word sounds. Inside the human organism itself,

there is no I, there is just perception and behavior.

In that sense, we are all the same. Just empty space that is alive.

The ego is a description of someone else's behaviour.

Inside the human organism, there is no ego

or self. There is just quiet openess. Even when there is action and behavior,

there is only this quiet openess.

Just sit down and be still and quiet, and there it is.

Just quiet openess that has no name, no identity, just space, timeless.

Try it and see for yourself, so to speak.

I, you, me. Larry Epston

the name of one organism.

Nope.........There is nothing that you can do to get out of a box that is your

totality.

Anything that you 'do'....and any results of that 'doing' are must more dream

stuff.

Tonight.....in your dream ....try to get out.....Try anything you can think of

to get out......

That will teach you everything you need to know.

There was a period in my childhood when I would have the same nightmare

every night. I'd find myself in the basement in the dark with whatever

terrifying

monsters my imagination could dream up. (I had an excellent imagination) The

goal was to get upstairs to bed without getting eaten. (Maybe that's why I

don't like video games)

One night my courage became stronger than my fear, and instead of running, I

called out to the creatures and dared them to show themselves, whereupon the

growling and banging instantly stopped, I awoke, and never had that dream

again.

I learned to face my fears that night and that's what I've done ever since.

I know that, if I want to get rid of something in my mind, I need to look it

in the eye and stare it down rather than pretend it isn't there.

Something else shifted for me that night. Ever since then, I've had lucid

dreams. It's a wonderful experience to be able to create whatever I want with

just a thought, or if I choose, simply allow the dream to follow it's own

course and surprise me. Imagine that; I'm creating the dream, and yet I'm

surprising myself with my own creations. Hmmm......

Anyhoo, sometimes the surprises aren't pleasant, and I learned to awaken

myself from the dream by pinching my dream arm. On awakening, I'd find that I

had reached over and pinched my arm in my sleep.

I wish I had a good ending to that story. Maybe someday.

Thank you, Toom. It was 'disturbingly' pleasant to read your comments. Hehe.

I'm still surprising myself with my dream creations.

Hi phil,

i had experiences like those you write about too.

a childhood full of nightmares!

and then lucid dreams, out of body experiences...all that stuff.

for a period of time, some years ago, i tried to induce lucidity, to

wake up in the dream and to give a direction to the story and

sometimes it was working.

i guess that the result of those experiences is somehow an unability

to trace a boundary between the drem state and the waking.

Yes, I think I know what you mean. Some of my best insights have occurred in

the morning, just as I awaken. I'll remain in a light, dreamless sleep for a

time. No awake perceptions, no thought that I can see, and only the most

vague sense of 'being there'.

There is nothing at all to be gained from that. I guess I just find it

pleasant, but as my mind awakens, it often brings with it all sorts of things

that, while of no interest to me in the sleep state, are suddenly the most

delicious mind candy, and I'm all over it. Hehe.

Phil
