It occurs when present is found *lacking* and it is not really *lived* but *tolerated* with a hope that one day it will change! Only in such scenario, hopelessness occurs when without that *object of hope*, the *intolerability* of the present is seen naked without any excuse! There is difference between *hope* and *dream*, *wish*, *want*, *desire*, *vision*, *fantasy*, *imagination*... Hope implies that preset in found bad and lacking! Whereas wish, want, desire have no such implications! You can be very happy now and still desire thousand more things in the future! You can be with a very beautiful woman right now and still wish for dozen more women in the future! .... Whereas, if you *hope* you meet someone nice in the future, it usually doesn't denote very high degree of *satisfaction* with the present! Yes, it's because hope includes fear of not getting it (hopelessness). On top of it I 've noticed that when the desire isn't connected to hope, I often get what I want very easily and naturally. There is just no tension. The tension of not getting it seems the most important obstacle between me and the object of desire. Len
