Why not call it healing or prevention or self-administration of preventative action. If the mind, part of you, is automatically discharging excess mental energy, use another part of the mind, yourself, to stop it until the hurtful imagergy get buried in positive experiences. Putting a bandage on a wound is not suppresion, cutting out a cancer is not suppression, and if it is suppression, why not use it until healing occurs? That´s OK. But on longer term deeper understanding is needed, repeating a thought to suppress other thoughts only makes one stupid.
