L.E: I really have little affinity to the idea of a LESSON. It implies that

life or god is a teacher and that your difficulties are for your own good or

learning. I very much doubt this is true. And some suffering goes on until

the person, village, city is destroyed and all the people are dead. So I

disagree there is ever a " need " for suffering.

Suffering may be the discord that develops when the internal condition and

the external condition do not harmonize. Mean parents and the child's need to

be loved and protected for instance. Or ideas about god's love for you and the

painful events that occur. Suffering occurs when the contradiction increases

beyond some unknown point.

Suffering arises from the frustration of desire. Desire arises from a sense

of lack. Lack is the nature of experience since experience necessitates

separation and separation is unwholeness.

Your difficulties are your limitations.

No limitations, no difficulties.

Well said.

Difficulties are lessons.

Life is the teacher.

Acceptance is acknowleging there is something to learn.

That applies in the face of difficulties,

but also in the face of no-difficulties.

The great lesson is that there is no

difference between life and the learner.

But somehow many difficulties must be

face before that can begin to dawn.

Life is not aloof and indifferent.

Life is dynamic, intimate, alive.

To turn away from Life is to die.

" Life is not aloof and indifferent.

....and challenging, and not how I want it most of the

time, and corrosive, and bloody cruel,

and hillarious, and playing dead........
