The best is to check whether there is some point in it. This makes an end to both: indulging or avoidance. len I may not be understanding what's meant by " judgment " here. In a spiritual context, I usually separate discernment from judgment. To discern is simply to notice the situation. Judgment is that, followed by a value judgment of good or bad. I see no problem with discerning, for example, if a person's words seem to be sincere, but the value judgment serves no purpose and is problematic if acceptance is the goal. Phil L.E: Phil's point is excellent, " if acceptance is the goal. " Then judging is not helpful. In other circumstance it is part of charting a course, so to speak, choosing between options. And then, judgement is of value and useful. The wise amoung us always remembers that we may be mistaken. Larry Epston
