Guest guest
< As I said I work with mentally ill adults. < It takes a special kind of person to work with < these people. A very " straight " person couldn't < do it. Which is one reason I *can* do it, because < not only do I fit the not-straight qualification < (I have LOTS of curliques) but I can tolerate the < people I work with because, as I observed shortly < after I started: " The clients are mentally ill, < while the staff are just plain crazy! " Bill How easy it is for me to identify with that. I worked for many years as a Recreational Therapist and Counselor in a Substance Abuse/Alcoholism Treatment Center and then for a couple of years in a Psychiatric Unit. I often told friends of mine the exact same thing. Pretty much what you saw with patients is what you got (e.g., schizophrenia, manic/depressive, suicidal, etc) but with the staff, not so most of the time (e.g., conniving, lies, deceipt, manipulation of date, drugging patients so they (the staff) would not be disturbed, etc). Yikes! Michael
