This is in one of the newsletters I get each day this morning...I'm

gonna see when there's a rerun..It looks like a fun and interesting

show.

" As I was browsing through the seemingly endless amount of

television channels last night, I stumbled upon a program

entitled, " God, Ghosts, and Magnets " . Airing on the always-

intriguing Tech TV channel, the show presented a new theory

involving a possible relationship between the human brain

and religious/paranormal experiences.

It seems that some of the world's top neuroscientists claim

to have found a link between a specific area of the brain

and moments of divine revelation. Their basic theory is

that faith and religious experience, as well as paranormal

sightings, are simply caused by an electromagnetic field

within the brain.

To study this new area of science, given the name

'neurotheology', scientists examined a condition called

" temporal lobe epilepsy " . Knowing that some epileptics

tend to report profound religious encounters, scientists

were curious to find out if a connection between the

brain's temporal lobes and paranormal visions existed.

What they found, after monitoring the brains of nuns

sensing unity with God and Buddhist monks achieving oneness

with the universe, was that all exhibited very similar

patterns of brain activity. Though further study is still

needed, a controversial question has been raised: Do people

actually see ghosts and divine beings, or are they merely

illusions created by the brain? "
