The thing is, Arvind, that what you talk about is to me simply a strenghtening of the ego-system, and cannot possibly lead to the understanding of its structure and its defensive, separative nature. You seem so sure of what you're doing though, that I don't see any point of discussing it with you. Len

Are you talking based on 'experience' or, just 'speculation'? You statement above reads as if you are merely 'speculating'! .... As many [including Ramana, Huang Po] said as I found in my own experience: There is really NO ego [or mind] that one can get rid of... But, there are two kind of thinking: - 'Conscious' and - 'unconscious' un-investigated [and thus often wrong and repetitive] thinking! My ephasis is on simply making it 'Conscious'! ....nothing really needs to be destroyed! and, as Ramana repeatedly taught: 'Strenght Of Mind' is indeed a great thing and need be practiced as long as necessary! Developing Strenght Of Mind [even if when it is called by some other name] has been part of every teaching that has tried to integrate spirituality into day to day life! Mental discipline and practice has been part of every teaching that has tried to integrate spirituality into day to day life! Very much agree with that. All that can really be done is to seek the truth of ego; reveal the self deceptions. Once they are brought to the light of day, the processes they are meant to hold in place can no longer function, and we either continue to struggle with our own lies, or we let them go. If successful, the ego games are over. Ego never has to be destroyed, it just needs to be made integrous. If we seek Absolute Truth, we begin by being truthful with ourselves.
