" What other names do you choose to use? Mind is not a muscle that can be exercised. It is more like a reservoir, or location or space produced by the brain. By bio-chemical-electrical means it both hold images and experiences and thinks, figures, calculates, plans, sub-consciously, and has its own dimensions of intelligence just as do the cells and organs and other aspects of the body. In dreams, the mind operations are somewhat accessible to conscious ego awareness, but the ego cannot make sense of dreams because dreams as they occur in mind are creating the ego or sense of self. Brain is like a CD, an operating organ but mind is like the music that arises from the disk, yet is not the disk itself. Mind and its outward expression ego or self are dependent on the brain and have no indendent existence. Like the sound or music on a CD has no independent existence, but arise from the structure of the disk. Again, mind cannot be strengthened or even easly accessed from the ego self state. But mind can be accessed by an external source. A hypnotist can access someone's mind to an unknown extent. Through relaxation and suggestion, the hypnotist as an external force, can relate directly to the mind level of the individual. They can find sub-conscious memories and even operate the body from the level of mind. How far or to what extent a hynotist can affect the internal workings of a human's life is unknown, but it seems to be useful to break the hold of addictions and bad habits like finger-nail chewing, which is like self-devouring. The individual can learn to follow ethical rules, meditate, abstain from meat and alcohol and change many other behaviors, but that is not due to strengthening the mind, that is a matter of choice, persistence and effort.
