It is because the ego is very clever, and knows very well what´s

going on, no matter how unaware one may seem on a surface. When

one´s image sytem is in danger, it is immediately recognized,

localised and destroyed. Like the immune system of the body or like

national defence.

Phil: Both good similes in their own way. Ego experiences discomfort first,

and

then seeks defense, and then seeks justification for the defense. It all

seems a

bit backwards. If the truth takes priority, then the convoluted layers of

defense and justification of the defense aren't necessary. But then again,

what

would everybody do with all that extra time and energy? ~

 

 

L.E: If you are like that, I am sorry for your suffering. I have suffering

sometimes, but my internal or ego nature is not like yours. Do you even accept

that possibility? Probably not.

I am aware of my thinking process and nothing is hidden in layers or behind

or underneath. It is all very obvious. Mostly there is nothing but the

sensory field, the so called outer is the same as the inner. Sometimes pictures

occur, sometimes self-talking but there is no problem with the process. I don't

mind or object to being who I am as I am. Mostly, inner and outer are one,

and life just exists. my ego is not clever and mostly there is no ego. But

when I want to deal with writing, there is an ego to do this, then it goes away.

When the ego-self is needed, it arises out of nothing, nowhere, as I

experience, but I assume as ego, that I come from mind, which comes from brain,

which

is carried by and is part of body which is related to environment, which

exists on the surface of earth that revolves around a sun, etc.etc. and here I

am!

There is little or no suffering here because there's very little unconscious

ego. You, on the other hand, appear to be driven mostly by unconscious ego

motivations, which is why struggle occurs, such as we saw here this last week.

The process I described above is exactly what you've been doing here. Most

folks actually live their whole lives this way.
