Guest guest
>> are you saying that animals live in fear? No, I am not making a general statement like that! In the passage that I posted, I am talking about the 'animal instinct' that is built into every human [animal] body-mind and that triggers the first 'survival centered' response of fear/furry to the situations that the animal [living inside human] interprets as danger! However, looking that at the same situation with the human [compassionate, logical, rational, result oriented] perspective, we find that the *fear* response is not the best or most effective response to the situation! Even in many potentially dangerous situations, calm [and intensely alert mind] can in fact, be more efficient and productive than a mind gripped by animal instincts of fear or rage! As side benefit having a calm mind also saves the nerves and body tissues from the damage that the hormones produced by fear/furry can inflict! Much of eastern martial art training [as I understand], is based on this fact! [in fact, lot of any martial art training as well as much of sports training is about gaining the ability to respond with *clear seeing*, *clear understanding*, *purpose* and *tact* in pace of... first animal instinctive response of fear and rage!] Consider the example of someone raising his fist or stick to hit you... typical animal response might be to *shrink*, shiver, *hide away* or to rage ahead and attack in furry! Yet a better human understanding will show that these responses of fear/furry are neither necessary nor optimum in dealing with such situations! Many humans have learned to deal with these kind of *situations* in far better ways, one that accomplishes the desired result [of self protection] more efficiently and one that doesn't involve the harmful poisonous hormones [that emotions like fear and rage are known release]! However, an *animal* for the most part remains stuck at the first animal level only and whenever faced with the same/similar situation it is forced to repeat the same cycle of fear/furry. [Examples might include my pet dog that kept running away and hiding under bed on hearing any loud noise such as a fire cracker, a gun shot in distant, sound of thunder or a tire burst! And, it did it for years! Other example might include Bull's *reaction* on seeing Red Cloths!] However, human being the next step in *evolution has *ability* to Clearly See a situation, understand it and then train its body and mind to respond in more human [such as calm, peaceful, kind, compassionate, loving or just purposeful, tactful, efficient and effective...] ways! Doing this [Clear Seeing, Clear Understanding and then learning to respond in human ways of peace, compassions, love or ...purpose and tact] I consider akin to Consciously taking part in *forward* Human *evolution*!
