Guest guest
Friends, I wish to express my appreciation to those of you who in the past three years through discussions, meetings, workshops and retreats contributed so greatly to deepening understandings and realisations in me. Thank you for the comments of those of you who have participated in the Awareness Retreats of the past few months. For the benefit of those of you who have asked for additional information about this somewhat new style of retreat I am including these comments. It is not always easy to accept an invitation to look at what is true, for the truth can be hard to bear. Yet without daring to look one is on the run. During these retreats I have indeed experienced the validity of that old saying " The truth will set you free " . Finally I wish to express my sense of warmth to those of you who felt ready and compelled to face your own truths and taste liberation. It has been a privilege to be your witness. In some as yet unknown way your comments remind me of the story about a famous experience. That too I will include now. Gautama sat in a meditative mood underneath the tree from early morning to sunset, with a fiery determination and an iron resolve: " Let me die. Let my body perish. Let my flesh dry up. I will not get up from this seat till I get full illumination " . He plunged himself into deep meditation. At night he entered into deep Samadhi (superconscious state) underneath that Bo-tree. He was tempted by Maya in a variety of ways, but he stood adamant. He did not yield to Maya's allurements and temptations. He came out victorious with full illumination. He attained Nirvana (liberation). His face shone with divine splendour and effulgence. He got up from his seat and danced in divine ecstasy for seven consecutive days and nights around the Bo-tree. Then he came to the normal plane of consciousness. His heart was filled with profound mercy and compassion. " I have come without knowing what to expect and I was not disappointed. It worked and it works. Thank you. " -- Stephen " Thanks for the opportunity of the retreat. I got a lot out of ALLOWING myself to be authentic! " -- Fiona " Unexpectedly there was no longer any doubt what the moment offered and demanded. The truth of the moment became choiceless and I fell into that truth, and kept on falling. " --John " Yes it is true; to gain it all I need to loose it all. Yet now I feel there was never any gain and there was never any loss. This is a strange and peaceful feeling " -- Marion Awareness Retreat - Byron Bay Hinterland, Rosebank NSW Friday, 12 May 2006, 10.00am to Sunday, 14 May 2006, 5pm Ph: 02 6684 4146 www.byronevents.net The Retreat is 3-days of direct experience. It is a subtle process that explores the apparent paradoxes of one's existence. It is an invitation to come face to face with essential aspects of your self and the essential nature of being. It is an opportunity to allow the natural processes of the self, confronting its conditioned tendencies, obstructions, distractions and contradictions in the light of its inherent desire for freedom, love and union. It prompts nothing less than transformation from non-acceptance to acceptance, from distraction to a deeper sense of reality. It is a simple and kindly process, in which each person's unfolding occurs in his or her own time. Yet it may well be one of the hardest experiences of your life. Although there is a modest $50 fee by Samaya for the use of facilities, the retreat itself is free of charge. Accommodation is in comfortable dorms or you may call Samaya to arrange a private room. You need to bring your own bedding, and food to share. Booking is essential as the retreat is limited to 20 participants.
