Less Than Human?

P: I was talking about hermits who live in caves

and forests by themselves, Larry. And I am as stupid

as you need me to be.

L.E: Well, you didn't say that, and hermits that live in caves are again a small

extreme of those who live alone, and even they can probably be very human

although I have never met anyone who lived in a cave. And even if the

experience becomes over-difficult, it probably begins with a fairly normal

religious person, although that may be a contradiction in terms. (Normal

religious person). And sometimes those people are regularly visited as people

bring them food and want blessings.

Finally, if you make a stupid remark, that has nothing to do with me except in

that you are a part of my life as life. If you weren't kidding, that was a

stupid thing to write: that living alone make a person less than human.

P: I didn't say that, that is

what you understood. Below is

what you wrote, and what I answered:

" L: Some people seem to do quite well living alone.

P: Some people don't care to be human. "

End of quote

....

P: Hermits go to caves to leave humanity

behind, not to be less than human, but

believing that in that way they will get

in touch with their divine nature. Still,

they don't realize such notions of divinity

were also planted in their mind by the

very society they are trying to transcend.

No one escapes the human mind. The very

notion of being something else, is also

the mind at work.

I have no more to say about that. You

can have the last word.
