The choice is between choice and no choice. There is no choice. -John Brockman http://www.edge.org/btljb/jb004.html If you haven't heard of John Brockman, you can check him out here: http://www.edge.org/btljb/jb001.html (By the Late John Brockman) Influenced me more than Krishnamurti and Nisargadatta combined. Not that he influenced my *thinking*. Much deeper than that. Bill

" ......J. Brockman Hey Bill.thanks for the link. This guy is terrific. I like a lot of his methodology and some of his system but...Man Alive....this 'Dead Man walking'... now just Dead, certainly chose to say a lot about 'choice' and how we don't have any. I know he had no choice, and I guess I have no choice in writing this, and any replies to this are also done without choice 'of' or 'by' anyone, but Whew! If this is all 'true'.....what's the point of any of it? Or this? Or any answering to this or ANYTHING. Realizing that there is no one here and nothing happening at all...I still can only communicate my choiceless thoughts by some means. I am not trying to be cutsie or silly or smart or anything like that. It's just that Mr. Brockmans 101 little snippets have me thinking and I have no choice I guess. ........bob

I surely can't deny or evade that truth. I'm different, as are we all, but I'm the very same searching soul that is everyone as well I guess. And that very difference and sameness of essence and ape is what makes it all interesting... for me anyway. By the way Bill...have you seen the Oscar winner " Crash " ? I've been meaning to mention that movie ever since I saw it and keep forgetting to do that. No heros....no villans......just everyman and everywoman and the human condition under the stresses we put ourselves. No one really understanding themselves or where they're coming from or to. It's not that any of them really 'see' that that is the extant situation....not even at the end; and, what people are capable of doing to themselves even when they do know that they are deluding themselves .......well it all kind of reminds me of not only what goes on here on our little list but also all the rest of the inter- reactions we engage and encounter throughout the rest of life as well. Good Cinema. Highly recommended for all by yours truly. And if anyone can keep a dry eye as they say......something's missing or they've been sitting in the 'Makani Inu-wai'(Hawaiian word known to all the islands for a wind that dries up vegetation, literally a water-drinking wind.....finally got a chance to use that word). Anyhoo it's available on DVD as a rental now. I promise if you haven't seen it.....you will enjoy it. :-) .........bob
