Other is Simple Abidance... But, I experienced that in order to really be able to 'abide' or to 'remain as you are'... you must already have mental peace! Later, I also read Ramana say: D.: What does Maharshi say about hatha yoga or Tantric practices? M: Maharshi does not criticise any of the existing methods. All are good for the purification of the mind. Because the purified mind alone is capable of grasping his method and sticking to its practice. .... I noticed that when I " already " have a 'unresolved' thought... the best way is to clearly and completely see, inquire, understand and resolve the thought! And, if that doesn't work then, just just " surrender " [as in die]... I found that as long there are unresolved thoughts... 'abidance' is not really possible! .... I also noticed that every 'disturbing' thought has its other part in the 'body'! There is some sensation, some pulsation, some throbbing, twisting, stress, strain rises in the body corresponding to every 'disturbing' thought... I noticed that the best way to deal with this 'body sensation' to direct my full attention inward there and try to see it clearly and completely! I saw that until the body is " free " of that 'sensation'... true 'abidance' can not take place! .... I also noticed that if I practice 'abidance' before falling to sleep... it make me Wide Awake! Many times, I " slept " through the whole night like that, but, yet stayed 'awake' all night! I noticed that if I want to have an " unconscious " 'normal' sleep... this is not the way... I found out that Vipassana helps me in getting deep sleep in which I remain 'normal' and 'unconscious'! .... I also noticed that as I engage in my " worldly " [and " professional " ] activities... Clearly knowing - why [i am doing it] - what [is that I really want] - how [best, I can achieve the 'purpose'] - what [is the best thing to do now] and then, giving Full Attention to the Present Moment works better than Abidance! Abidance naturally results when I give my full attention to the present moment but, if I use abidance as the starting point, it usually doesn't last in a *worldly* [or, professional] environment! .... I have noticed that in order to lead a social, worldly and professional life " no thought " is not enough... in addition, I need to consciously cultivate, keep and grow... " good thoughts " ! Firstly.....I agree with you. But for some ,in some worlds(that are not worlds) ........there is no 'entity'. So therefore and thereby , as booze is an entity, it's just a conceptual thing...not real. So therefore and thereby if an imagined entity were to have an imagined 'problem' with alcohol....the best bet is to just go out and get a few fifths of bourbon and pour them down that imaginary gullet. If any problems or sickness arrive....no probs. that's just all more imagination. And if as an ideated drunk you cause some people swirling around your vacuum vortex self like post-its in delirium, are hurt by your actions or lack of actions.....Fuck them. Just a bunch of friggin' ghosts anyway. Nutritious food? Just another urban and imaginary entity legend. Fuck that shit. Eat some chips and chocolate to your illsory hearts content. I mean even if you were to suffer some condition like diabetes or somethin'...Fuck it. that's just another idea that's floating downstream from some fucking imagined piece of nothing. If you die....well there you go fooling your little imaginary self again. You can't die...you have never lived. never never. Walking on the road without looking? See here now....what road.? There are no real roads. Cops? Teachers? Children? Puppy dogs and Kittens? Good? Bad? Fuck that. It's all in our delusionary and nonexistent minds. How they all got there and from where or why.....well again that's a 'MYSTERY'. But hell theres nothing really mysterious about mysteries either. They ain't anymore than anything else. Drug abuse? Man that's how you get to the " Understanding " . It's all stuff that never was................YEAH RIGHT. I will never give that kind of conceptual masturbation my purchase. But some folks have strange taste and that's just all part and parcel of the fun and fantasy.......I guess. ........bob
