Guest guest
>>But, does not progress means ego's struggle and struggle means pain? Doesn't ego feed and grow on split and struggle? In many teachings [including Ramana and Tolle] ego is synonymous with 'mind' [conditioned mind]. Simply put, 'Ego' is... 'conditioned' old 'thinking pattern' as mind itself is nothing but a collection of thought! The split occurs when the Reality is different than thoughts and as ego is an old thought pattern conditioned by the past, the present Reality is always different from it. More rigid the attachment to this thought structure [image of self as conditioned by past] more pronounced the pain! .... an 'adaptable' ego suffers quite less as it is able to 'update' itself quickly with the changing reality. Still it suffers... because, it still lags the Reality and changes in it occur only after the changes is reality have already happened. In that period, it still suffers split and stress. And, once it 'adjusts' the Reality changes again... and, its split and pain continues. End of this split comes when by ending this " thought relationship " with reality. In this mode, the approach to reality is free of any expectations or demands. Ego is another name of " thought relationship " with Reality! Freedom is defined by not having any " thought relationship " with Reality. This is also felt as 'oneness' as thoughts [in terms such as demands and expectations] are only thing that create division. >> But, is not every idea of any " freedom " a delusion? I have heard some teachers say that one can never be 'done'. They say, no one is 'done' at any point in his/her life. Concept of 'done' is dependent on the concept of 'goal'. When what you have is... EXACTLY what you want... you are Done! You can reach it NOW... You can reach it ANYTIME... You can also keep missing it all your life!
