Why is anything here? See how easy that was. Why do some assume that there is an intention and purpose behind what exists in the present? It supposes a suspicion, a paranoid view that nothing is as it seems and there are unseen motives and intentions operating. What if the answer is: that there is no way to know why you are here, it is unsolvable, unknowable? Do you think the inquirer will stop asking, or just go on to the next person and keep insisting that there must be an answer if you can only find someone that knows or discovers for himself the answer. Meanwhile the rice is burning, his clothes are filthy, his hair full of lice and his breath smells bad, but there he is, trudging down the road with his little lantern, hoping to shine some light on the turth. And on it goes. Larry Epston
