I like coming here because for one, I can park right outside the office doors and get out easily to make and eat my lunch. Some weeks ago, I had a fifth grade class and the students behavior was terrible. Some of them. Today I am in charge of a 3rd grade class and they are OUT TO LUNCH and this is my FREE TIME to use the internet computer in the classroom. When I teach in middle school and high school, I have even more FREE TIME. There is a prep period of FREE TIME, a lunch period of FREE TIME, and if I want to stay after school a bit, I can use the computer then as well. Some classes don't have a computer, and sometimes the teachers put in passcodes, but often, I can get on in my FREE TIME. I have been making line art lately with a marker on 8 1/2 by 11 paper, and had one of my designs copied by the office and they made me 25 copies to give to my students to do art during one 45 minute period. They are very excited to color in the line art that is abstract with no recognizable images. Perhaps this is my most significant opportunity to make a significant impression on my students. The art is the translation of my thinking and feeling into line form so in a way, by the concentration on the art we are communicating mind to mind, heart to heart, and they can feel the harmony and rhythmn of my inner nature. They really get absorbed in doing the coloring and the class gets very quiet and peaceful. I like art time best of all.
