L.E: Ten people talking. Most don't like each other very much. They are

not

friends and don't want to be friends. Solitary and alone they hurl

themselves

in combat with each other. Now and then saying " that was a good blow. "

Larry Epston

P: Why so negative? I like you Larry.

I like everyone here, everyone likes me.

I don't like everything they say, they don't

like everything I say, either. It's not personal.

Why have a persecution complex? It's not

combat, Larry, it's a dance. Stop fearing

your toes are going to be stumped to dust.

Dance, Larry, dance with us!

Trying to teach Larry how to dance is a waste of time. Some people

just don't have rythm.... Larry thinks everything he says is Truth

and anyone who challenges him is misled or just plain stupid. His

mind is sealed shut like an old sewer hole. Most of what comes out

of his mouth is old and foul smelling sewage crap.

It seems Larry does not realize how he provokes others and that's why

he's moderated. Although I approve nearly half of his messages with

leniency I'm not sure if this is working. I'm asking the group

members to practice restraint if you feel the need to engage him...of

course you can always play nice with him.

well, there ya go,

everything anyone says or does is 'their' truth, Silver

until it isn't. How that happens is ______. Not necessarily in an

alphabetic order and we can play nice Hur. After all, this site

is spiritual kindergarten ;-)

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN

(a guide for Global Leadership)

All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how

to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the

graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.

These are the things I learned:

Share everything.

Play fair.

Don't hit people.

Put things back where you found them.

Clean up your own mess.

Don't take things that aren't yours.

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.

Wash your hands before you eat.

Flush.

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint

and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

Take a nap every afternoon.

When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and

stick together.

Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup:

the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how

or why, but we are all like that.

Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the

Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.

And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you

learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule

and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and

sane living.

Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated

adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or

government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think

what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had

cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then lay

down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a

basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to

clean up their own mess.

And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in

the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

Nice. But, just for the sake of whatever:

It is one thing to " know " that one is already That, it could be

another to " be " That " being " That. For some, there appears to be a

separation between these " two. "

Kindergarten seems normative, to me. For me and many, normativity is

the very essence of struggle. I remember Kindergarten as quite a

struggle against quite a bit. Not to argue with you, that would be a

struggle.

My experience is that IS is already all I need to know, be, become:

ease is ease. Anything more or less isn't ease. Simpler than simple,

already starts getting complicated.

Anyway, didn't mean to complicate your simplicity. If I do, I'm sure

you'll disregard.

;-)

My experience, when I put myself in Larry's shoes, is that I/he am/is

doing my/his level best to be, precisely, provocative in the most

intensely disturbing sense, precisely because I/he feel/s intensely

disturbed. But I am not criticizing Larry, although I do feel that

his intensity is clouding the accuracy of his speculations. Rage,

intense suffering, struggle and despair, do that. They tend to

stupefy us.

This is neither protest nor approbation. Merely my personal

projection, without any engagement or denial.

Don't worry about Larry; he's just looking for a girlfriend:

http://search.americansingles.com/s/sun/sunshineheartone/

and has to lie about his age on his " Singles " profile:

According to Larry's Biog on http://www.epston.com/AAPersBioTwo.html:

" ...1966. (that was when Larry was 8 years old)...

Drove North in Calif., along Hwy 1, to San Francisco. On the way North

from Mexico, drove into the Los Pardre National forest and tried to get

admitted to the Zen Center, but they wouldn't let us in. Perhaps if I

had cut

off my hand.....

1966-7. Discovered Berkeley campus. Signed up for art classes in

summer session, then in the fall, registered in their Master's program. "

That would make him 8 or 9 years old at the time. I know that Berkeley

are open minded, but 8-9 years is little young for a Masters

program... and can anyone enlighten me as to what " cutting off " one's

hand has to do with Zen?

Not so at peace with oneself is Larry. A lonely and cantankerous 60+

year old, or a master of fiction at 48.

I think the gentle, but long suffering people at

freethinking_unschoolers

(where Larry calls himself " Bones " ), would very much agree with

Silver's comment " Most of what comes out of his mouth is old and foul

smelling sewage crap. "

Malc

(I am posting this to

freethinking_unschoolers

in case they think they are the only ones going round the bend).

hey Ana....that was one of THE all time greats.....and actually in or

friend's case, sorta apropos.......and I'm not picking on him...I

always was trying to help him and he..me. that sorta got us into

trouble. here's the tune...remember?:

Fe-fe, fi-fi, fo-fo, fum

I smell smoke in the auditorium

Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown

He's a clown, that Charlie Brown

He's gonna get caught

Just you wait and see

(Why's everybody always pickin' on me)

That's him on his knees

I know that's him

Yeah, from 7 come 11

Down in the boys' gym

Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown

He's a clown, that Charlie Brown

He's gonna get caught

Just you wait and see

(Why's everybody always pickin' on me)

Who's always writing on the wall

Who's always goofing in the hall

Who's always throwing spit balls

Guess who (who, me) yeah, you

Who walks in the classroom, cool and slow

Who calls the English teacher, Daddy-O

Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown

He's a clown, that Charlie Brown

He's gonna get caught

Just you wait and see

(Why's everybody always pickin' on me)

Who walks in the classroom, cool and slow

Who calls the English teacher, Daddy-O

we used to sing it in the hallways of school...... " Blessed Sacrament

Elementary " ...so we had to sing low, or the nuns would switch us with

their yard stick rulers.....those gals were tone deaf and always

lookin' for the Charlie Browns.....that song still echoes down the

hallways of my mind.......the old school building......that was old

even then... is long gone........but the song carries on......the

magic of music once again.

Maybe you give the old a boner.

He maybe kind gentle and square with you, off list.

The rest of us haven't got what the old dog is after.

It's not the toothless bite that hurts, but the constant barking frays

the nerves.
