I was quite struck by the Jan Cox notion you mentioned at the time... but couldn't find the words to comment. It struck me as something that I had long noticed and never knew how to discuss. For example, I am driving... no thoughts, just driving, but at some point I am suddenly quite *conscious*... as if there is suddenly an extra serving of consciousness to go around... as if a bit of " free capital " ... and at such a point there is a sense of choice, that something could be chosen to be done. And it struck me today that the key is, at such a point, to *do nothing*... to just -- as you say -- take it all in. So I am saying that the sense of choice only happens rarely, at those times such as Jan Cox describes. And we can squander our capital at those times, or let it " appreciate " . Bill PS re: " perhaps we are God's sentience " ... so at the least then, can we say: " we are sentience " ? Or Sentience R Us?
