I am asking if 'sustaining' can naturally result because of some practice. Such as by doing yoga in the morning, by doing meditation in the morning, night, mid-day and afternoon or maybe, by having a plan [with desired goal and method] for each day, each hour and each situation [to the extent possible]. These are the things that I don't do currently. Do you have any experience doing those? If yes, could you share your experience? > Trying to sustain > it is missing the point. I do practice 'attention to breath' many times and sometimes when I feel this sense of conflict. But, most times, I find that it is " too late " for it to work i.e. the 'feeling of self' has become somewhat deep and breath awareness doesn't remove it. Sometimes, I take my attention directly inside that 'feeling of stress'. In a way, I go " looking for " it, trying to carefully see it, examine it, understand it with a mind of 'wanting to know'. When I do that - most of the times, I find that it has gone 'missing'. But, sometimes... it 'returns' again later when I take my attention away from it. > They take no extra time, or > special place to do them. Not however as an attempt > to sustain any particular state, but just because of the value > of ceaseless practice, the value of which can only be known > by doing. I will try that. Sometimes, I have also tried 'body awareness' as in being fully aware of body while sitting in a meeting. But, when I do that I feel kind of 'losing' the body and, losing the sense of self - I feel kind of disoriented and I fear that I wouldn't know what to say, how to respond and react. It is something that I suspect is counter productive in a business meeting and thus, I drop body awareness when I feel losing the 'framework' in which to 'decide' my response. Pretty much same thing happens when I try 'literal hearing' - as in listening with no 'mental commentary' - I feel losing the 'sense of self' - losing the 'framework' to 'decide 'what to say', 'how to respond'. Thinking more about it, it seems I feel that I am not really " free " in the company work environment and that feeling of 'bondage' works at the sub-conscious level creating painful feelings. Perhaps, there is a new approach that I can bring to my work. Perhaps, I can change my thinking in this regard at the ground level. Just thinking out loud, Matthew... > > > > As I mentioned in my earlier message, > > I seem my 'sense of self' rise in these > > environment especially when I feel emphasis > > on 'personal self'. Thanks. I am asking more in terms of 'prevention' as in maybe, I do yoga in the morning and as a consequence I feel more integrated and stronger internally and thus far more immune to external circumstances. Do you think it can work in this regard too? > > Matthew > With warm regards, ac.
