I could say " there is the desire to " instead.

It is the psychological pain that occurs whenever the identified entity is denied what it wants. It is what the Buddha called suffering. The ego is " I want " . toombaru

The ego is merely suffering under the illusion/delusion of adequacy/inadequacy and separation. But the way is nothing but the way. And there is no way to this way but the way itself. ~8~

I could say " there is the desire > to " instead. > Nothing is " so special " whatsoever... I'll put it differently: If *I* had had the thought, " I just want to tie up a few loose ends before I let this go " , then I can imagine seeing that as a flag, an Uh Oh! What's going on here! and then noticing the " I want " as a very visceral tie-in to the whole thing, the place where " ownership " of what is going on is coming out in a very direct way, and so a great place to go into it, to investigate. And note your " there is a desire to " does not convey that visceral " tie-in " ... which is the whole point. My view: any place I am " hooked in " , look at that hook-in. There's bound to be something phoney at the root of it. So a very interesting place to dig deep. Bill
