Guest guest
When the night catches me, In the cold bleakness of another dark reality, When old friends come to visit, awaken me with The pounding of my heart, I imagine The sullen loneliness of a hermit not yet willing To pack her begging bowl and return to the dust And noise of the maddening crowd, the cityscape With its fumes and horns, laughing at myself, I am assaulted by my own quiet rage, I walk on by, I see in hollow faces etched the same sullen loneliness, Though I remember how gulls Fly in the midst of all the oncoming treachery, I have bitten into the apple of despair, so Brightly covered in the mystery of red, of the bottomless Fear that rises like waves in my blood, restless and yearning I step out of myself, crashing on yet another shore, dragging My broken wing and choking at my last bite. It is daybreak now. YIL, Ana
