The Stick: Love, Indirectly offering A less painful alternative Urgent This is the punitive The predatory Way. Like parrots So imprinted, We imitate this Way The Way of darkness, Rage, shame and guilt: Here, we're thrown Back into the brier patch Whence we were born This is the snake. Here love is occluded But familiar. Here is either/or: " My way or the highway " Black or white Duality. II. The Carrot: Love given directly, The means is the ends, Beyond duality Unhurried The rope, taken for what it is. This is the nurturing Way.
