The Bones Are Speaking, Parts I and II

The bones are speaking again,

the ancients are drawing near,

gathering bright flesh,

rising from a foaming and briny sea,

falling downwards, nebulous rings of heaven

or upwards with bleeding feet soaked of hell,

they come from land parched and dry,

they come from land green and sweet,

they come from a far land cold as the vicissitudes of silence

earth bound creatures

ever ruminating with

haunted skins of an ancient funerary pyre

soulless bodies drying like autumn leaves,

shriveling

in unmarked tombs,

unheralded passages into another good night

breaking sky upon sky,

stardust calculations of an insipid light

flickering and passing very near,

a presence yearning

Do you hear their freedom song?

Do you revel in their victory?

Part II

The sun is ablaze, a bright red-orange ball,

glowing low in deep sky this morning,

just above the horizon as if shades of

night were drawn by an unknown symphony,

as if sun and I reawaken to a crescendo of

Fire, ten thousand bonfires,

ever burning in the night caravan,

it is good it is so,

I can laugh again with the morning sun and

my endless predicament of being human,

Oh so human and ordinary,

not god not beloved,

not saint not sinner

not poet not guru

tortuous rivers of tears have wept away all these identities,

incredulous memories and shadows of a long dark night,

come once again to remind me, ghostly flickers,

only nothing lasts forever,

like shadows dancing on the wall,

and the bones of my desires and aversions

having come to life

filling with the marrow of love and longing are puppets

dancing to old songs of regret, betrayal

and fear, fished up from the treasure chest of Pandora's box,

and like a soldier of destiny, my fortune knows no bounds,

marrow picked clean by serendipitous vultures,

I remove this last human skin,

belonging to nothing alive,

though gathering in the silent affirmation of

how the sun also rises and how the breath I am falls in my

breast,

I am here and no one shall know my new name.
