Oh, that this distance calls me once again,

Oh, that this sublime devotion should befall--

take me once again,

frail human skin

to the edge of despair and longing,

 

That I should weep for a tenderness

in the arms of my Beloved who

slips away into a dark-winged abyss,

waits for my damnation,,

waits with a delicacy of angels and serpents

 

That I should seek comfort in words

That I tremble without choice.

fruits of my womb,

in endless folds of desire,

that I should write

with bleeding hands, write upon my Soul

and that my Beloved should empty the

quill and drain the ink,

 

That I should write no more and

That I should end this Silence between us

and like the passage of time into the vain heart of memory,

that we should but touch-

 

Flesh,

 

That I am Yours,

That I am Goddess of Your holy design.
