Kazantzakis has been buried on the city wall of Heraklion, his birth town, after the Christian church had refused to give him a place on an official graveyard. I often think about this quote, which sounds so nice and romantic at the first moment but can demand literally everything if taken seriously. I think... hope and fear are the two sides of that one coin which keeps us in bondage. We cannot be free of fear and still have hopes. We are not free until we get rid of the whole coin. Love is one side of the coin the other is fear. Hope is a hand that tosses the coin. Freedom comes at a great price: to allow ourselves to be lost again and again in this Dance of Life, only to reawaken when another song ends. .......understanding is a perfect snowflake melting..... " the dream of 'Anna' reawakens as Anna as long as the dreamer exists, > understanding ever more aspects of 'dreaming' and the 'dream' " sounds interesting it let my think of the following statements: " the dream of being " Marc " reawakens as long as the dreamer " Marc " exists " the " seperation " between real being (non-dreaming) and the dream- being, i think.....is real therefore.....as long as the dream-being exists there is a difference between sleeping....and to be awake.... there is a difference too....between real being....and dream-being it's all about to find out.... " who/what " real being is.... so the " dreamer " , who has no individual/seperated existence, except in the dream.....need to be identified as dreaming entity only this is no big deal....because real being.....don't let anything/anybody " dream " .....for endless times.... " dream " exist because of real being..... ....and also because of real being.... " dream " disappear.... Marc >

Interestingly this quote about hope, fear and freedom is written on Nikos grave. I see hope (in this context) as a form of desire, and both (hope and fear) are pointed to the future because one does not want to get lost! Therefor our mind is going round and round, only to keep up the illusion that we are getting somewhere and thus are someone. And love??? Krishnamurti comes to my mind who said to someone who claimed that he can substitute love for fear: " Is that not an act of thought which is afraid and therefore covers up the fear with the word called love, again a belief? You have covered up that fear with a word and you cling to the word, hoping to dissipate fear. " Greetings Stefan
