Dear Annushka,

Let's discuss aggression, and hurt.

Both are indispensable for the survival

of the body. Feeling pain alerts you to

life threatening situations. Getting angry

and being aggressive helps you fight and

survive. But you are not only flesh, you

also have an ideational body constructed

by language. This ghostly body, this persona,

also tries to protect itself by feeling hurt and

being aggressive. All this mental suffering is

unnecessary. These lists are ideal to teach people

how to manage that hurt and anger caused by

words. But most people are so immerse in their

persona that they automatically react again and

again when verbally attacked.

If instead of wasting energy in attacking the

attacker, they will look at the verbal scaffolding

producing the hurt, they will see it is all an

illusion created by words. Seeing that is a

freeing insight that will defuse most future

mental pain.

The same conversation is going on at GURU, tune in....

Suffice it to say, as a practicing human, I can and do get hurt;-)

As a practicing non-dualist I know Pete is here to test the weakest

link in our spiritual armor.

Or that's the way the character of Anna sees it. And don't be

telling me anything to disillusion me now;-)!!!!

Hugs to All,

Anna

P: I notice you're more interesting in me

than in the subject. That is a sign you haven't

examined the verbal scaffolding properly,

but to satisfy your idle curiosity, yes I did,

and do. I find interesting how when reading

an email certain feelings of pleasure, or distaste

arise, how quickly the mind colors what it is reading

now with what it had felt or thought about the

imagined writer before. How quickly we forget that those

are just words on a screen and not a conversation

with someone we personally know . This mindfulness

about how printed words evoke feelings and thoughts

in us is very illuminating.

Sky:

Pete, are you aware that you just responded to my attack with your own

attack? Thus, I don't believe you've really done the following:

" If instead of wasting energy in attacking the

I'm saying that you can't help but be concerned about that, no matter

how hard you insist that it's just scaffolding. The fact is that

these words represent not only another real live breathing human

being, they represent you, yourself, in your totality, especially,

most emphatically, your feelings.
