Guest guest
Yet, after knowing many aspects of *flow*, after tasting it several time, at times even lasting more than 2-3 weeks, after experiencing its Clarity and Peace- I still saw myself falling to the old pattern of behavior! And, that got me thinking about something else - *addiction*! I had seen many of my friends following a 'diet plan', getting very lean and energetic, raving about it and staying on it for some time and again going back to the old pattern of eating and gaining weight. I have seen many of them going through several episodes of these cycles. I have heard/read people going through similar recovery/re-addiction cycle with nicotine and many other drugs. I wondered if we are similar addicted to *thinking*... and, especially to a particular kind of thinking that each of us [are somewhat uniquely] addicted to. Stress, fear, mental pain, jealousy, guilt, shame, anger, rage, sex, romantic love, pride, vanity, violence, aggression each of them are related to particular set of hormones. Hormones are known to have chemical composition quite similar to *drugs*! We even use terms like *high on adrenaline*, *high on testosterone*! People are said to be addicted to danger sports like car racing, cliff hanging, and mountain climbing. Further, it is research and documented that many people seem to *recreate* the experiences of their childhood in their relationships as adult i.e. if someone has had an *abusive* childhood he/seems to repeatedly get into abusive relationships! Many people who have been victim of violence in childhood seem to become a perpetuator of it or a victim of it in their adult life! I wondered if we are seeing a *hormone addiction*, here!
