Intelligence or Infantalism?

 

That is the question.

 

 

The Infantile, as

 

Aggression, always assumes

 

The duality:

 

Power/

 

Powerlessness --

 

And its peripeteia (dialectic/reversals)

 

 

Thus, through power,

 

One either infantalizes

 

Or is infantalized.

 

 

But Intelligence

 

Is beyond aggression:

 

 

Beyond power

 

And its fantasies

 

 

It merely sees

 

What IS

 

As IS:

 

 

Without violence

 

Without non-violence

 

 

There are those

 

Who inveigh

 

Against power

 

(Fascist or communist,

 

One parent figure or another):

 

 

 

Invoking the abuses of

 

Power.

 

This is infantile.

 

 

 

But Intelligence

 

Sees beyond power

 

And powerlessness

 

 

Beyond aggression

 

And non-aggression

 

 

Intelligence

 

Sees all as merely

 

 

A pattern:

 

 

Homage without homage

 

To itself.

 

 

(For even homage

 

Is infantile,

 

Of course.)

 

 

All passion

 

Is infantile,

 

Of course.

 

 

Is it infantile

 

To speak of the infantile?

 

To despise it?

 

 

Intelligence does not

 

Despise

 

The infantile,

 

Aggression,

 

Violence.

 

 

It merely understands.
