Guest guest
Have you ever been 'consciously' 'depressed'? I haven't [...and, I have tried!*] What if you try to be 'consciously' 'depressed'? 'How long' will your 'depression' last... [...if you " chose " to 'consciously' 'experience'** it???] To me, following is about the BEST spiritual practice that I have ever found. Live each moment, each experience, each feeling, each thought, each action, each step... as if you have 'consciously' " chosen " it! Stay 'conscious' to that 'experience'... [feel it with full 'willingness', experience it with full 'consciousness'...] Whenever I have done that, it has always resulted in... PEACE. ----- * Strangely, unless I try to 'escape' it at some level, 'fight' it, 'resist' it at some level, or try to somehow " spiritually " " overcome " or " surpass " it; I can NOT stay 'depressed' for Long! Anytime, I stop 'struggling'... I " allow " it to FULLY Be... 'depression' soon starts disappearing! It needs the fuel of my 'resistance' to survive! Ironically, my very attempt to 'escape' it - keeps it in place - and, no matter, whether this 'attempt " is physical, psychological or " spiritual " ! I have learned that I can not really cheat my inner! I can not say an inner " yes " as a 'trick' to get me past what I don't want to " really " experience! **Conscious experience: Full experience of all the feelings, all physical sensations, impulses without mental labeling! Clear and complete observation of physical sensations in the body without any mental commentary. ***If you find yourself unable to avoid 'mental commentary'; try this - each time, you become aware of a thought arising in the middle of the experience; Simply say, this is EXACTLY what I want to feel, experience Right Now! Ego being 'resistance', it can not last without your inner resistance to What Is. Once ego subsides, direct perception required for 'conscious experience' will return again! Gangaji performs this exercise with her devoted audience, every time any one of them has the courage to present a complaint about anything: Feel it fully. What's behind it. Feel it fully. What's behind that. Feel it fully. Until it is discovered that behind every negative emotion, thought or feeling Once it is no longer resisted is just pure love and being. (Her constant point is that suffering is resistence to pain. Pain is OK. Suffering is unnecessary. A seemingly subtle but actually monumental difference.) It seems to work Every time. Even, or especially, in front of a packed house.
