Documenting thoughts.

In my experience,

thoughts repeat in order to make memory

and in order to keep memory fresh and intact.

Thoughts that don't repeat; soon, disappear

from our memory.

And, thoughts repeat only as long as we have

a " need " to keep them 'in memory' - possibly,

to resolve them later! Example of these 'repeating'

[and by 'unresolved'] thoughts would include -

'having to' file taxes, 'having to' finish paperwork,

'having to' meet boss...

and, they might also include thoughts of

'what someone did to me', because, I don't

think I have yet DONE " enough " to pay him/her

back [take my revenge]! That's why, when

a murderer gets sentenced to death and execute -

victim's families often say it brings 'closure'

to the memory of the dead i.e. that particular

thought of 'what someone did' is 'resolved'

[and thus " released " ] now!

Repeating thoughts might also include, 'what I did' to

myself or someone else and the reason of their

repeat might be because we think we haven't yet

" punished " ourselves for having done that, haven't

'paid back' enough to the victims for having caused

some damage or because we think we haven't yet

fully learned its lessons.

Either way, thoughts repeat only because they

are not yet completely " resolved " .

Thought " I have to file my taxes " or " I have to

pay my electricity bill " keeps repeating itself

until we taken a real decision by either paying it,

or by deciding not to pay it or by setting a fixed

time and place to pay it. Once we do that, this thought

is " resolved " and thus stops repeating itself. It is

my experience that a Very Similar thing happens with

other thoughts too!

* * * * *

Therefore, I think it is good to sit with pen and

paper [or computer] and give our full

attention to listen, understand,

examine and document any thought that

keeps repeating itself frequently.

It not only works with tax and paperwork

kind of thoughts but, in my experience, it

works in “resolving” ANY thought that keeps

repeating itself!

A repeating thought saps our energy and time

it keeps occupying Valuable Mental SPACE

[Peace Of Mind, Open Awareness]. Resolving

such a thought OPENS this SPACE Up once

Again!

A thought repeats itself only as long as we

believe that you need to 'remember' it,

we need to 'keep it in memory' because

we find its 'lessons' useful for some

reason or there is something that 'we

want to do' that we still haven't done.

It is simply a remainder that keeps

reminding us to do 'what we want to do'

with it and then allow it to go away.

Repeating thought is simply our way to

keep it in memory and to keep it fresh.

Once we fully examine it, take time to

understand it and document it - we end

the need of repeating it because we

have documented it and thus we can refer

to it anytime we want plus by examining

it in full details and by taking a

'decision' we resolve and release it!

Unless we have 'resolved' a thought,

it is my experience that a thought DOES

and " should " [for our own sake] keep repeating

itself!
