Guest guest
I am interested in exploring the link between anger and food and also between anger, energy and virility. In India, diet and its effect on the body is believed to directly impact quality of emotions and thoughts. It is believed that eating light, vegetarian food in moderate quantity helps make you peaceful and it helps clean your thought of excess violence, aggression and anger. It is considered good for spiritual inquiry, practice and prayer. It is also believed that eating meat, eggs make you strong, gives you lot of energy but it also generates lot of body heat and increases anger, aggression and tendency for violence. In India, Brahmins (and those engaged in spiritual studies, prayers and mental purifications) are asked to adhere to vegetarian diet. And, it is accepted that Kshatriya (the warrior caste) and others who are engage in wars and battles eat meat, eggs and other animal products. Do you have any experience in this area? Have you found it true in your practice? Recently (after long interval) I had 5 egg whites for morning breakfast for two days in row and I was taken aback by the impact it had on my body. On plus side I felt very energetic, strong (as if under the influence of some drug or hormones), I felt very potent sexually. But, one the minus side I felt lot of inner body heat, lot of aggression and very violent and aggressive anger that I found quite difficult to contain. I was taken aback by this sudden change. It appeared as if for some unknown reason lot of hormones (maybe testosterone) were released in my blood. Quite interestingly, I didn't feel the back spasm that I used to feel frequently since I had moved to relatively colder area and I was able to physically lift and move items (such as TV) that I previously found too heavy for me. I also had unusual (for recent times) erections and sexual libido and sexual aggression. I found that there was a beastly edge to my love making during that period. My " love making " was wilder, more aggressive and rougher during these 2-3 days. I was also more demanding and felt much stronger need for it. Further, my sex too appeared more as part of my aggression and the expression of my energy and " power " rather than my " love " ! From all its symptoms it did appear like a hormonal change and I was surprised that it happened to coincide with the change in my morning breakfast habit. Do you have any explanation? Have you had ever had a similar experience? ------ *As far as I know India and Nepal are only two countries that are predominantly vegetarian. Hinduism and Buddhism are only two major religions that are predominantly vegetarian.
