Guest guest
What is 'Advaita'? Mostly an attempt to [mentally] deny Reality and thereby attempting to " escape " the Pain! Is this the way Shankar intended it to be used? Probably not Why does it get used that way then? It is like alcohol in the hands of a chronically depressed individual - many of such person turn alcoholic and start using it to " escape " the Reality. Whenever the reality is found 'uncomfortable' [which for someone chronically ill is pretty much Always] they resort to drink more and mentally deny the existence of 'non drunk' state. What can be the correct way? Treat the pain or at least learn to willfully bear pain before starting to drink wine. Forgetting pain is not equal to curing it. Guest guest
What is Buddhism? Practice of living happily. What is wrong with Buddhism? Perhaps, too much " practice " and very little of real 'living'! What is wrong with Buddhism? Denying 'self' - yet, spending a lot of time in an effort to make self happy! Guest guest
What it takes to live happily? Wise thinking What it takes to think wisely? Presence, Observation, Acceptance, Understanding and Most Importantly. . . Practice! > > What is Buddhism? > > Practice of living happily. > > > What is wrong with Buddhism? > > Perhaps, too much " practice " and very > little of real 'living'! > > > What is wrong with Buddhism? > > Denying 'self' - yet, spending a lot > of time in an effort to make self happy! > What is wrong with [eastern] religions? Too much narcissism - " I " shouldn't suffer. " I " should be happy. " I " should go to heaven. " I " should get enlightened. What is the Reality? No body really lives for him/her self - trying to think it the other way causes confusion and pain. What is the first step to Spirituality? Spiritual Courage What is Spiritual Courage? Saying Yes to Pain! Willingly accepting Personal pain and suffering. Moving beyond - not letting fear of personal pain and greed for personal pleasure decide one's actions!
