When somewhat says my memory

is very good, they mean they seldom

forget. They are not talking about the

the aliveness of the memory. I can

remember a sharp pain very vividly,

without feeling pain, I can remember

the taste of chocolate without feeling

that sensation on my tongue. Try as

I made I can't again watch that sunset at

Carmel which took by breath away.

In the same way, I can remember my

first satory, what I saw, what I felt, and

yet, it's like seeing a photo of myself

on vacation. The freedom and wonder

of being there are gone.

Is the memory of sadness a thought, or

sadness? Is the memory of love, or

love itself? Memories of moods are

more vivid, than memories of happenings.

Can I remember being not? I think I could.

After all, If I don't remember a thing, that

would be remembering well.

by the way, what is a 'satory'? it must be a very deep thing indeed.

i know with plain old 'satori' there is no one present to see or feel

anything whatsoever...kind of one of the main indicators of a real

satori'. but this! this must be far beyond and away from such trifling

things as 'spiritually enlightened' moment points. you remained in the

background in the Face of God! better'n Moses i'd say. your my hero pete.

nothing new below but it's worth the reread just for the prayerful

supplication it puts out to our satoryed teacher here.

your adoring baba,

Hi Bob,

You know the difference between you, and me?

I'm not moved by words. No insult, mockery,

or praise seems real to me, addresses me, or

touches me. It's a nice position to be, Bob. And

not hard to get to, once you see that when others

talk about you, they're talking only about their

opinions about an imaginary you they have

fashioned to represent your actions and words.

there is not one iota of difference between you and anybody. if you

read your own paragraph above, after the initial mistake, ( " You know

the difference between you, and me? " ), you will see that you are in

agreement. you just don't know this. and you don't know yourself. your

munificence is awesome, but you just haven't gotten very far with the

real deal yet. that's why i chide you peter. it's all out of Love, and

my love for you. say son,. why don't you get busy today and show how

truly thoughtful you are. try and get people d that you

personally cannot handle when they expose your inability to think

straight. you've been trying that street urchin stuff with me on a

couple of lists, for a couple of years. admittedly, you are an easy

win, but your sour grapes are oft times very childish. that you have

not learned this only lays bare the truth in the proposition

presented. bless you peter. i hope only the best for you. now how

'bout that signed picture pal? how much?

P: Very good Point, Bob. Glad you brought it up. True, as you said,

the sense of " I " as a separate entity is absent. But this sense of

separation is created by thoughts in the cortex, if thoughts are

absent, and consciousness is free to attend to the inputs of

the parietal lobe, those inputs are recorded in memory. Memory

doesn't need thinking or the cortex to record sensations.
